“Unusual activity — verify your account or it will be suspended”
A text or email claims your Amazon account is locked or had a suspicious order, and links you to a look-alike login page that steals your password and card. Amazon doesn't lock accounts over a link like this.
How it’s usually worded
- “Amazon: We detected unusual sign-in activity. Verify now or your account will be suspended.”
- “Your order of $1,299 iPhone has shipped. Didn't order? Cancel here: [link]”
- “Your Prime membership couldn't renew. Update your payment to avoid losing access.”

Fear of losing access rushes you past the warning signs.
- A big order you didn't place
The fake charge makes you click “cancel” without thinking.
- Look-alike link
amazon-security.com, amzn-verify.net — never the real amazon.com.
- Asks for password + card
Amazon never needs your full card or password via a texted link.
What to do
Don't tap the link. Open the Amazon app or type amazon.com yourself and check Your Orders / account directly. Real issues always show up there.
