Scam pattern
Romance & “pig-butchering” investment scam
Fast love that turns into a crypto “opportunity”
A warm, fast-moving online romance that never quite meets in person, then introduces a “can't-lose” crypto or trading opportunity. The platform is fake; deposits vanish when you try to withdraw.
How it’s usually worded
- “I've never felt this way so soon — you're my soulmate.”
- “My uncle taught me a trading method that always wins.”
- “Just start small on this app, I'll guide you.”
Red-flag signals
- Love-bombing
Intense affection within days, before any real meeting.
- Won't video-call/meet
Constant excuses to avoid live verification of identity.
- Pivot to money
The conversation steers toward an investment app or “guaranteed” returns.
- Withdrawal wall
You can “deposit” but withdrawals require fees/taxes that never end.
What to do
Never invest through someone you met online and haven't met in person. Reverse-image-search their photos. If you can't freely withdraw a small test amount, it's a scam — stop depositing.

FAQ
What is “pig butchering”?
A long-con romance scam that builds trust over weeks, then “fattens” the victim with a fake investment before taking everything.
The trading app shows my profits growing — is it real?
The dashboard is fake. Real profits would let you withdraw freely; demands for fees to withdraw confirm the scam.
